More Districts Turn Away Money

No. That's not a misprint. Districts around the country say they don't have enough money. Teachers around the country say they don't make enough money. So, what happens when a state allocates additional bonus money for teachers, many districts turn it down.

In going through some back issues of Education Week, I found a news item that approximately two-thirds of districts turned away bonus money allocated by the state. While the article didn't detail the reasons, it seems rather odd that districts would turn away money.

I guess the need just isn't that great.
